Beyond the Classroom offers a timely examination of the future landscape of Singapore’s arts ecosystem, presenting salient findings from dissertation projects undertaken by the graduating cohort of the BA (Hons) Arts Management programme.
This event serves as a platform for critical discourse surrounding key challenges and opportunities within the sector, encompassing education, entrepreneurship and audience engagement.
These presentations and dialogues offer crucial insights from emerging arts managers grappling with pertinent issues. Research delves into diverse areas, from the influence of national culture on fashion entrepreneurship and youth-led ventures in craft markets to innovative marketing strategies for engaging Gen Z. The evolving role of university art spaces and the strategic approaches of independent art spaces are also explored. Extending beyond local contexts, research examines applying motorsports marketing principles to the arts, the complexities of entertainment governance in the Chinese creative industry as well as the evolving media image of K-Pop idols as cultural ambassadors, highlighting the growing significance of entertainment in shaping global perceptions.
Beyond the Classroom also marks the commencement of Envisioning Ecosystems, a student-organised arts management camp designed to foster dialogue and collaboration among university students in Singapore aspiring to careers in the arts and culture sector. This confluence of events underscores the commitment to nurturing the next generation of arts leaders and fostering a robust and sustainable arts ecosystem in Singapore.
