Jason is an educator with over 15 years of experience in planning and designing arts and cultural management curricula in higher education. He is a professional arts manager who has worked in the arts since 2002, covering various art forms and creative industries, primarily in dance, theater, and the performing arts, including multidisciplinary festivals in New York, Singapore and the Philippines.
Jason published an essay, 'Whose governance, whose good? Cultural Policy and Governance in the Philippines,' in the special issue Democratizing Arts of the Arts & International Affairs Journal in 2020. He also co-authored 'Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Philippines' for the Routledge Handbook of Cultural and Creative Industries in Asia in 2018.
Jason has presented at various international academic conferences, most recently at the 13th International Convention of Asia Scholars, the 17th International Conference on Arts & Cultural Management, and the 45th Annual Conference of the Arts Administration Educators. He was also a resource speaker on Public and Cultural Diplomacy: Promoting Philippine Culture for the Foreign Service Institute, Carlos P. Romulo School of Diplomacy in the Philippines from 2022 to 2023.
His research interests focus on critical discourses in international cultural policy, cultural governance and democracy, cultural participation, audience development and engagement, the intangible heritage of indigenous communities, and arts management education.
Jason is a scholar and a recipient of the Ford Foundation International Fellowships Program in 2009. Before moving to LASALLE, Jason served as the chair of the Arts Management Program at the School of Design and Arts, College of Saint Benilde.
