Damaris D E Carlisle | Academic Leadership & Faculty at LASALLE Singapore
Lecturer, The Learning Centre

Dr Damaris D E Carlisle

lasalle_dr_damaris_carlisle
  • Doctor of Education, University of Western Australia, Australia
  • MA Arts Pedagogy and Practice, Goldsmiths, University of London, UK
  • BA (Hons) Social Policy with Social Work Certificate, Middlesex University, UK
  • Diploma in the Teaching of English as a Foreign Language to Adults, International House, UK

Driven by over three decades of experience and a passion for education's transformative power, Dr Damaris Carlisle is the Lecturer-in-Charge of The Learning Centre (TLC) at LASALLE College of the Arts. Her research and practice are dedicated to advancing contemporary higher education, focusing on innovative pedagogies and the transformative potential of technology.

Dr Carlisle champions inclusive learning environments, advocating for digital accessibility and personalised educational approaches. Informed by her doctoral research on the experiences of learners with disabilities, she believes in every individual's right to flourish and collaborates with faculty, staff, and students to build a vibrant, inclusive community at LASALLE.

A key area of her interest lies in using emerging technologies to enhance learning outcomes. This includes investigating Virtual Reality (VR) for pedagogical applications (such as reducing foreign language anxiety) and the strategic integration of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) within arts and broader higher education contexts. She examines GenAI's role in creative practice, data exploration, and its broader implications for the future of academia.

Furthermore, Dr Carlisle's research addresses student motivation, the development of self-study skills, and the role of faculty development in encouraging digitally inclusive and forward-thinking educational practices. Her work aims to shape a vibrant and adaptable academic community where innovation, inclusivity, and individual student flourishing are paramount.
