Event details

This showcase explores the intersection of vernacular craft, specifically rattan and woven techniques, with dystopian design aesthetics and biomimicry principles. Students collaborate to design and create objects that reflect a future where environmental challenges have drastically reshaped humanity’s relationship with natural materials. The resulting outcome must serve both functional and aesthetic purposes, drawing inspiration from traditional craft practices while adapting them to the conditions of a dystopian future.

Students identify peculiar sitting and resting activities in uncomscenarios. They incorporate principles of biomimicry in flora to this furniture. The (sitting & resting) furniture offers unique and innovative functional benefits inspired by biological systems and structures. The designs merges rattan, weaving and biomimetic principles to create functional and aesthetically compelling products.
